Meet Dr. Kaufman

A Burbank native, Dr. Mark Kaufman has been providing compassionate, high quality dental care to our community for over twenty five years.  In recognition of this outstanding performance he has been voted “Best Dentist” on three occasions in the Burbank Leader’s Best of Burbank survey.

Dr. Kaufman’s local roots run deep. He attended the University of Southern California where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979.  After completing his undergraduate studies, he travelled to Northwestern University where he obtained his dental education, graduating with honors in 1983.  In his ongoing quest to provide expert oral health care to his patients, Dr. Kaufman attends numerous continuing education meetings and is active in several professional organizations, such as the Academy of Osseointegration.

Early in his career, Dr. Kaufman was invited to join the faculty of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC.  He has been a Clinical Instructor at the school since 1988, where he enjoys sharing his knowledge and helping train tomorrow’s dental practitioners.

In his desire to provide dental care to the underserved members of our community, Dr. Kaufman joined the professional staff of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center (PSJMC) in 1984.  For 13 years he volunteered his service at the hospital’s Children’s Dental Clinic to care for underserved children. In addition, he has served PSJMC both as a trustee of the medical center’s foundation and as the chair of its Community Relations Committee.

Recognizing his responsibility to contribute to the dental profession, Dr. Kaufman has held a variety of leadership positions within organized dentistry.  From 2003-2008 he served two terms on the Judicial Council of the California Dental Association, where he was selected to chair the council in 2007.

Married with three adult children, Dr. Kaufman remains an active member of our community, most notably having served nine years on the board of directors of the Burbank Community YMCA, including two terms as board president.
